We have been talking about aligning IT with business objectives. I just read a good article on this topic. In an interview with Network World, Russ Daniels from HP concludes that it is high time for IT managers to adopt a more advanced approach to enable the delivery of business services. I particularly agree with his point that in order to adapt to IT’s role as business service provider, IT managers need to adopt a top-down view. I wrote an entry on the importance of this top-down approach from network and application performance management perspective on June 5. With this approach, IT managers can more effectively relate network and application performance to business service delivery, provide unified services across increasingly virtualized IT infrastructure, and offer tailored reports to business managers and senior executives in meaningful terms and the language they can understand.
