Back from Engage '08

Dscf6874 Submitted by Christine Johansen, PR / AR Manager for NetScout

We’ve just gotten back from Engage ’08, our newly renamed NetScout community/user conference, and wow what a week it was! This was our seventh and biggest event to date, thanks in part to NetScout’s year-old acquisition of Network General, but nevertheless a massive accomplishment during these challenging economic times.

Engage ’08 is the first user conference to pull together users from both sides of our new house—Sniffer + nGenius, two great tastes that taste great together indeed!—and we had a steady stream of training and cross-training on tap.  We had an educational yet very fun time on the island of Coronado in San Diego, at the gorgeous Hotel Del Coronado, which was built in 1888 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1977.

In addition to record-breaking customer attendance across a wide swath of verticals, industry luminaries John Gallant of Network World and Peter Sevcik of NetForecast also joined us at Engage ’08.  Gallant moderated a panel of NetScout users talking about their current network management challenges, while Sevcik presented findings from his latest Application Performance Management Best Practices Survey. Another luminary showed up as well; as the conference venue has served as the backdrop to many a Hollywood blockbuster (including 1959s Some Like It Hot), who better to show up on the scene than Marilyn herself? (Well, make that Monroe impersonator Susan Griffiths...)

More on Engage ’08 later--Stay tuned!
